After the Inferno

Start with the best reason to play it: this one is finished. Version 1.0 shipped and then got a 1.01 patch, which puts it in a small minority here. You captain a mercenary clan fighting the Isenian Empire on behalf of nations it has already swallowed, and leadership is the actual subject. Your own people will betray you for money or appetite, so loyalty is something you manage rather than something you have.

Eight characters can be recruited into the team, each with motivations and a secret worth digging out, and getting those out of them is where the writing earns its keep. There is voice work, the animated scenes are decent for 2022, and the interface is clean. At 17 MB it starts immediately on a phone.

Where it shows its age

Recruitment is more collection than tactics. Characters join the team but the war never asks you to pick a squad or play to anyone's strengths, so the clan stays a cast list. The heroic framing also sits awkwardly next to a plot that wants everyone compromised. Still, a complete story beats a promising fragment. Free in the browser above.
