House Arrest
Joel cannot leave the house. Alanna cannot afford rent. The arrangement writes itself.
House Arrest gets more out of its premise than most trainer games manage. Joel is a former criminal serving his sentence at home, which means he physically cannot walk away from anything that happens inside it. Alanna handles the housework in exchange for a room. The confinement is not set dressing, it is the pressure that makes the whole setup work.
Mechanically you shape Alanna, directing what she learns through daily interactions that drift from chores toward something else entirely. TK8000 built it in 3DCG with animated scenes, and the decisions genuinely fork: there are multiple endings rather than one path with cosmetic variations, which gives repeat runs a reason to exist.
The catch
It is still a trainer at heart, so expect the loop that comes with the genre. Days repeat, you assign the same tasks waiting for a stat to tick over, and the middle stretch drags before the branches open up. The power imbalance is also the entire point, so if a story where one character holds all the leverage does not appeal, skip this one. Free in the browser above.
