Last Call

The premise does the heavy lifting and it does it well. Your uncle is getting too sick to run his bar, you move to Oaklane to take it over, and your girlfriend Fiona stays where she is. That distance is the whole tension of the game. Every regular who walks in, every late shift, every night you close up alone is weighed against a relationship you are maintaining over a phone.

Thunderline Studios writes the bar well. The regulars have their own rhythms, the dialogue has a dry wit that most games in this genre never attempt, and the scenes are animated rather than static. Choices carry consequences that stick, so a run can genuinely end with the relationship intact or in pieces depending on how you played the nights.

Fair warning

Infidelity is the engine. The game is built around whether you cheat and what it costs, so there is no version of this where the question stops being asked. Version 0.4 is also old, dated 2021, and the project has not moved in a long time, so treat what is here as all there will be. Free in the browser above.
