Amnesia is a tired setup and this one still works, because of what it does with the wife. She was in the car too and she never woke up. She spends the game in a hospital bed while appearing in your dreams to show you the things you can no longer remember, which turns every recovered memory into an argument about who you used to be and whether you owe that person anything.
Killer7 uses that tension properly. Your family are the people helping you rebuild, and every step toward someone new is weighed against a woman who cannot speak for herself. The dream sequences are the strongest writing in the build, and the animations in the intimate scenes are smoother than the 18 MB download suggests.
Before you start
Family relationships are a core part of the content, not an optional branch, so go in knowing that. Version 0.4 dates from 2023 and stops well short of resolving the coma thread, which is the one thing you will want answered.
