My New Neighbors

The main argument for this one is maturity. Rmaximus has pushed it to version 1.84, which means the sandbox actually has content in it rather than three women and a lot of empty rooms. You move into a busy residential neighborhood, you meet the people living around you, and mind control gives you a lever on how their desires develop over time.

Corruption here is gradual and it runs in both directions, since the protagonist changes along with the people he is working on. That is more interesting than a straight power trip, and the sandbox structure lets you decide who to focus on and in what order. The cast is varied enough that different runs feel different. The 17 MB build opens quickly on a phone.

What it costs

Mind control removes the negotiation, and with it most of the tension. Once a neighbor's resistance is a number you raise, nothing is uncertain, which is also true of Lunar's Chosen and its mind reading. Sandbox pacing means grinding too, with days spent revisiting the same locations hoping a counter has moved. Free in the browser above.
