UNDAWN Shackles Of Eternity

Two things make this stand apart. You follow a woman, and the writing refuses the usual fantasy comfort. Rhiannon is cold, clever and distant, her past deliberately withheld, and immortality has left her without any faith that good intentions produce good outcomes. The world matches her: power decides what counts as true, faith has gone crooked, and hope costs more than most characters can pay.

Kind Nightmares writes consequence into the choices rather than branching for its own sake. Decisions cost something, and the intimate scenes read as part of how Rhiannon negotiates with people who all want leverage over her. It is a 10 MB build, so it opens straight away on a phone, and chapter 2 is where the current story stops.

What to expect

The tone is unrelenting. There is no comic relief and no warm character to retreat to, so if you want something light this will grind you down. The prose also reaches for weight and sometimes overshoots into vagueness, with passages about power and eternity that say less than they seem to. Two chapters in, it is still setting up.
