Contagion Crisis

Contagion Crisis wears its influences openly. Grimhaven, Washington falls to an outbreak in 2018, the creatures it produces are driven by appetite rather than hunger for brains, and the whole thing plays like Resident Evil rewritten by someone who prefers transformation to jump scares. Sarah and Ava are sisters trying to reach a sanctuary while working out where the infection came from.

The pull is watching the sisters change. Mutations alter their bodies and their minds as they go, and their relationship shifts with each step because they are each becoming something the other has to accept. WeLoveMonsters keeps the horror tone intact through the adult scenes instead of dropping it, so the tension carries all the way through.

Know what you are getting

This is a kinetic novel, which means you read rather than choose. If branching matters to you, this is the wrong game. The content also runs dark, with harassment and monster scenes that some readers will want to skip entirely. At version 0.6.0 the escape is still unresolved too. Excellent atmosphere, narrow appeal.
