Deathable
Your world touches another one, and crossing over changes what you are.
Deathable starts you as a high school student with a flat, uneventful life, then reveals that your world sits next to another one running on very different rules. Contact with it does not leave you as you were. The transformation is the hook, and the game treats it as a mystery to investigate rather than a switch that flips in the first scene.
Investigation is the actual verb here. You gather clues, corner characters about their secrets and piece together why any of this is happening, so scenes are earned through poking at the story instead of picking from a menu. Meorless also lets you choose clothing and appearance as you go, and there is a path of evil for players who would rather use the change than resist it.
What holds it back
Version 0.3.7 is early, and it shows in the writing more than the art. Some clue chains dead end because their payoff has not shipped, and the tone wobbles between genuine mystery and quick fanservice. The premise deserves a longer game than what exists today.
