The Fate of Irnia opens on a good hook. The kingdom gets raided by orcs every twelve years, your father died repelling the last invasion on your seventeenth birthday, and a year later you are finally old enough to open the chest he left behind. War is coming back on schedule and you inherit both the legacy and the problem.
The fantasy plot is real, not an excuse. There are factions, a kingdom to defend and consequences to your choices, and the adult content grows out of the household the story keeps returning to. Winterlook wrapped the whole thing at version 1.0c, which matters more than it sounds: you can finish this one, unlike most of the fantasy games on this site that stall at 0.4 forever.
Where it shows its age
The art is dated next to newer releases, with stiff poses and a resolution that betrays when the project started. Some quests also lean on old-school RPG habits like fetch tasks and backtracking that pad the middle stretch. Play it for a complete fantasy story with an actual ending, not for visual polish.
